Outstanding County Council Members

Awards were given to an outstanding Council Member selected from each of the seven Cooperative Extension Districts at the 2011 GOAP Conference in Bowling Green. Higher resolution photos are available on our Flickr site.

District 1: Steve Bach (Bath Co.)
District 1 Outstanding County Council Member, Steve Bach (Bath Co.)Steve Bach is a native of Owingsville, Kentucky, located in Bath County. He's a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and a minor in Economics.
 
Mr. Bach is active in the agricultural community. In addition to the Bath County Agricultural Development Board, he also serves on various committees for Kentucky Farm Bureau, Bath County Farm Bureau, University of Kentucky Ag Alumni and University of Kentucky's Farmhouse Fraternity. He is also active with community groups, such as Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and with his Church.
 
Their farm specializes in cattle and commodities; their main crops include soybeans, corn, wheat, asparagus and a vast peach and apple orchard.
 
Mr. Bach enjoys time with family, flying, traveling and sports. He is married to Anna Richelle Hunt Bach.
 
District 2: David Kash (Wolfe Co.)
David Kash is a long-time resident of Wolfe County and has been extremely influential in the development and improvement of agriculture in Wolfe County.
 
One of Mr. Kash's biggest accomplishments is that he is still active in the community while sustaining a farming operation, serving as the local Postal Service Mail Man and driving a school bus route for the Wolfe County School District.
 
He dedicates multiple hours to the Wolfe County Agricultural Development Board as a member for the past 8 years, has served on the Wolfe County Extension Service District Board for 4 years and Chairman of that board for 2 years. He also is a member of the Wolfe County Kentucky Farm Bureau.
 
While he is active in his careers and community, David will tell you first and foremost that he is a family man.
 
District 3: Rob McClanahan (Pendleton Co.)
District 3 Council Member, Rob McClanahan (Pendleton Co.)Mr. McClanahan was born and raised on a family farm near Butler, Kentucky where he farms with his father and grandfather. While growing up, the farm consisted of a dairy operation and raising forages, corn and tobacco with a few beef cows. This same farm has now transitioned into a cow/calf operation and raising forages.
 
Mr. McClanahan has been very active in his community. Some of his activities include: Chairman for the Pendleton County Ag Development Council, Young Farmer Committee Chairman for the Pendleton County Farm Bureau, Committee Member for the Farm Bureau State Resolutions Committee and Forage Advisory Committee, President of the Pendleton County Cattlemen Association, Supervisor on the Pendleton County Conservation District and member of the Pendleton County Extension Council for the Pendleton County Extension Office.
 
In his spare time, Rob also works for the United States Postal Service as a Rural Letter Carrier.
 
District 4: Eddie Warren (Madison Co.)
District 4 Council Member, Eddie Warren (Madison Co.)Eddie Warren is a full time farmer in Madison County. His farming operation consists of 55,000 lbs Burley tobacco, 75 cows and calves along with hay. He also has greenhouses that are used to grow flowers and plants for retail sales on the farm. Mr. Warren's wife, Tammi, operates the greenhouse business.
 
Mr. Warren has served on the county council since the beginning representing extension. He has served as director and vice president of the Burley Coop and currently serves on the Madison County Farm Bureau Board as past president.
 
District 5: Kelly Flanders (LaRue Co.)
Kelly Flanders is owner and operator of R& K Angus Farms in Buffalo, Kentucky. The 800 acre operation consists of growing alfalfa hay and corn, along with raising over 300 head of purebred Angus cattle. Mr. Flanders has grown up in the cattle industry, raising and showing Angus since he was nine years old.
 
He has or currently serves as Chairman of the LaRue County Agriculture Development Board, President of the LaRue County Beef Cattle Association, Southern States Board of Director, Kentucky Cattleman's Board of Director, LaRue County Farm Bureau Board of Director, and Elder of Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
 
Other than working on the farm and promoting beef cattle, Mr. Flanders enjoys spending time with his wife, Missy and daughter, Kalli.
 
District 6: Neil Allen (Barren Co.) [No Photo Available]
Mr. Allen was born and raised on the farm he lives on in the Merry Oakes community of western Barren County, where he raises beef cattle, hay and tobacco.
 
Mr. Allen served 4 years in the Army Security Agency with 3 trips to Viet Nam. He served on the Board of Directors of Kentucky Farm Bureau for 10 years and 8 years on the KFB Insurance Board. He currently serves on the Glasgow-Barren County Planning Commission, Barren County Conservation District and serves on the Board of the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts. He also serves on the Barren County Extension Council and is past Chairman of the Extension Board. He has been Chairman of the Barren County Agricultural Development Council since its inception.
 
Mr. Allen is the Store Manager and a Salesman for Hartland Equipment in Glasgow and is married to Diane. They have two children Karen of Brentwood, TN and Jimmy of Smiths Grove.
 
District 7: E. T. Pendley (Muhlenberg Co.)
Mr. Pendley has been a part time farmer most of his life. He and his wife Carolyn live on land that was owned by his great grandfather. They raise hay and beef cattle in order to maintain the land. They are both members of the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association and the Muhlenberg County Cattlemen Association.
 
Mr. Pendley has served as a member of the County Extension Council, Muhlenberg County Agriculture Council, and the Muhlenberg County Phase I Board. He was chairman of the Phase I Board for two terms and worked to help administer Phase I funds to farmers in Muhlenberg County.
