State Agricultural Development Board Delivers $5,000 to Henry County 4-H Extension Council

The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board, chaired by Governor Paul Patton, delivered a check in the amount of $5,000 in support of the Henry County 4-H Dairy Club. The Henry County 4-H Extension Council submitted an application to the Henry County Agricultural Development Council to acquire cost-share funds for the purchase of equipment related to the expansion the 4-H dairy program. All Henry County youth aged 9-19 will have the opportunity to participate in the program which provides leadership skills, decision making skills, training in judging and showing of dairy animals.

Kentucky has made a historic effort to diversify away from tobacco production while revitalizing the farm economy by investing 50% of Kentucky's Master Settlement Agreement into the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. To date Kentucky has invested over $98 million to an array of county, regional, and state projects designed to increase net farm income and create sustainable new farm-based business enterprises. The Henry County 4-H Dairy Club project represents just one of the over 800 projects that have been funded through Agricultural Development Fund, since the inception of the program in January 2001.

For more information regarding this project, contact the Renita McCarty Extension Agent for 4-H at (502) 845-2811 or the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy at (502) 564-4627.
