Cattle Genetics Improvement

The Cattle Genetics Improvement investment area was created to increase the genetic quality of dairy and beef cattle in Kentucky through the selection of superior sires, either through purchase/lease of sires or artificial insemination (Al), as well as purchase of replacement heifers.

This investment area is part of CAIP and requires the submission of the CAIP Application by an eligible Program Administrator, as well the county council priority sheet (.doc, 40 KB).

The "Beef Sire Selection Recommendations" is a dynamic document. Periodically, this document is updated to reflect the most current EPD standards or to add new breeds. Any changes that occur usually do so in late January or early February.
